Housing Costs are Out of Control

Wow; real estate pisses me off. Families are dependent on value increases for necessity such as retirement, to borrow on that value, to live on. It's a huge WTF, when morality is considered.

When I see what's happened in my old home state, California, I'm broken hearted. I had left because a mortgage could not be afforded, because the tech bubble burst in 2000. 3 recessions have burst my bubble in my prime years. How the fu_k did we get here? Answer: greed.

Materials to build homes rot as all objects created by humans on Earth decay. So why does a house cost more when it’s been used by some other family? A home should lose 10% of value the moment papers are signed. A new home should profit its creator/owner no more than 15% = good profit. No housing cost increase should exceed the cost of living.

Real estate is bullshit, and so is capitalism. We are supposed to care for the land while we live here temporarily. No human can truly own land.

I'm going to prove that is so. Just you wait - you greedy bastards.

Tuvok. This would be a good home, with a little more digging and some wood, maybe some concrete? I dug this hole on someone else's "property." That person has 1 home on this land, he built for his daughter's family. There are about 8-acres here, I created my little campsite on its edge. The hole will sit there for decades, pretty much unnoticed by anyone.  If it were just about 5x this size, I think me and my dog can live here?

If I were Rohani (Iranian leader), I’d attack a private vessel in the Gulf of Oman. It would have to belong to a nation that Trump has insulted and separated us from recently, that would cause a delay in American reaction (Trump has a personal fear of causing WW3, (but he and Kushner are convinced they are the bringers of an Armageddon type, historic international collision).

If I were Rohani, I would order an RPG attack from speedboats. For a surprise and a quick getaway.  The choking effect of the Persian Gulf waters would drive oil to $100/barrel, and be a great temporary cash boom for both Iran and Russia, and all middle east oil extractors.

A strategy is no longer something that a nation can plan for, more than 2-3 steps ahead, because there is too much unpredictability now.  I fear that like us now, the Iranians can only expect so much, and we take a gamble in a game of chance beyond step 1.

I want the United States Congress to do their job and check the Administrative branch and takeover international security activities with votes and not opinion broadcasting and stalling. Because Trump is so obviously dangerous; he makes the United States The Most Dangerous Nation - beyond doubt more likely to destroy cities than Kim Jong-un or Iran or Pakistan or Russia. This president is authoritarian by his very biology and so (unlike presidents of the past) will have no proclivity to ask Congress to democratically decide the fate of thousands and perhaps millions to billions before launching us into a quagmire beyond any Afghanistan, or Vietnam tangled web of warfare that we have known. The Congress must take control.

Worse, the political culture in the USA has become poisonous, with separated media funnels to the people, we may have such internal strife that we cannot defend ourselves, or diplomatically resolve essential and complex (more so by the month that Trump is in office) security issues. 

I believe that Mike Pompeo is discovering what Rex Tillerson has, that the confusion and seemingly chaotic state of the Oval Office and the West Wing makes diplomacy, that must have clear communication, almost impossible. Pompeo may resign, or more likely the public presentation will be his firing. It all depends on the emotions of a manbaby.

Beyond the bullshit / the real issue / what happens: Christian conservatives were formed as that political label because a fringe activist element of American Christianity became collectively disrespected (the feeling of disrespect). because they did not see their government validating their beliefs (because the American government is NOT supposed to).

They witnessed culture not doing so, regularly, and the freedoms of the Bill of Rights meant they were not allowed to discriminate or teach the Bible in school, or refuse a gay wedding cake if they want a public business, or... on an on and on, they have not stopped trying to make America Christian.

We are not supposed to have a national faith. We are supposed to ALLOW freedom to practice to ANY religion. Never allowing the appearance of a government that favors any one faith. The first amendment of the Bill of Rights is clear, unlike many others, it is adamant that the US government not pander to any religion.

We fucked this up badly. The founders were not clear enough, apparently, for those whose feelings of faith appear to be disrespected. They are LUCKY to be here, where their ability to practice is never restricted.

Christmas Time is War on Christmas Time So Let's Call it the Former?

Of course, this short essay is 4 months late! It's objectively late.

#WaronChristmas a #hmm solution from End All Suffering (James, aka me):

“Christmas time.” Can be a habitual term that includes Christ’s name without objection. It can be objective and or have meaning in personal context to each who would use it.  

Because time knows no subject; it only reacts to object difference. Neutral to subject it can remain consistent as its river flows.

“Merry Christmas time Bob!”

Considering, to those who care about its meaning, the term should remain meaningful. 

Conversational references and signs of an announcement, or of pleasant greetings of Christmas (aka the Holiday Season (religious)), if only referred to in the context of #time allows Christ’s name to be used abundantly.

History and spirituality are important. Respect for these concepts is what we all want. This is a way for Christianity to feel less subject to “politically correct” offenses to modern (secular) culture.

If it could become a habit in culture, I think this could be a positive way to deal with our differences in practice and belief. And more so our commonality.

Loving Your Land and Homesick from Spacetime

Do you feel a biologic attachment to the land you call home? Stay long enough and you likely will. If you know the new known state of time and the geology of what you call “My homeland,” you may be biologically subject to feeling more comfortable there - in that time and space.

It may not be the time away, or only a longing for others that draws you home. A factor in our experience is that our time on Earth is a different experience depending on where you live. Identifying this as practical theory (i.e. we see it work / prove its effect) is a tool soon within our grasp.

Hypothetically, your experience of time is affected by gravity density of mass in your environment and you are adapted to living at that location. You are certain that things just don’t seem as comfortable anywhere else. You’ve come back home before and have validated this is true.

At the macro this difference is measurable now. Here on Earth we only can feel the micro gravitational differences we have been living with, sometimes fighting over, that are yet to be distinguished as different experiences to our minds.

Time will tell because measurements across it that are long (to us) give us more true data and the river is long and it flows to the see.

Go live on any other world and within years your homesickness will manifest as physical and you’ll get your most likely cancer and die. In the long term of being away from our adopted land, we may notice this illness, this difference of an adapted biologically translated experience of the nature of time.

For many of us, missing the faces and sounds and feelings of the company of others and loved ones is necessary for some extended time, to realize the strong force of human company and of love, but that unforgettable longing may only be a factor. You may be certain that that love holds you home, and may  cause you to associate the geology and atmosphere, the trees and all the land with that human bond to others. Unless a person accustomed to a consciousness that has adapted to being alone.

That person would be a choice in an astronaut program of long term space flight. And of ambassadorship, even if accompanied by many humans, to another species’ homeworld. But even he may experience displacement in time and space so far by linear measurement that he will feel more than a bit more uncomfortable the more different his time and space becomes from home.

American idiots: the Electoral College is made of Humans to make Moral Decisions

American idiots:
They (the electoral college) are not mere numbers, and they well could be just that, but humans to make moral decisions when veritable mobs of misinformed and mislead people elect completely unqualified demagogues to our powerful leadership! Humans not numbers, get it?

Anyone else (besides Donald J. Trump) at a time like right-now  would be thoroughly investigated to rule-out whether or not he were an actual Russian agent. But no. Here we go. We know very little about him. He may have met with an agent of Vladimir Putin, or with the Russian president himself in the many months to recent years prior to choosing to announce his run.

That would be consistent with all that we know and have seen so far and those are the exact kinds of circumstances that the FBI would pursue an investigation against anyone of us - with less extenuating circumstance.

 The circumstantial, when based on multiple in context visible relationships is the evidence we use to send thousands of people to prison with every year. Many are convicted only on the circumstantial. I would wager that there exists a physical trail within the documented life of Donald J. Trump of collusion with the Russian government, and possible direct affirmation that they would be helping him to win.

The people he’s near recently are Russian connected and this fact remains to fuel the suspicion that he should be a suspect. He needs a Moscow Hotel; his Secretary of State’s company (Exxon) could gain half a trillion dollars in business of arctic oil drilling if the US lifts economic sanctions against Russia.

His tax returns may indicate a direct payoff (for consultation) with/from the Russian government. We may never know.

Congratulations to mom and many other local activists. Many who have become energized to fight and stand up and stand out against intolerance. This sign was repainted after being vandalized by local "Tumpians," in the East Haddam, Connecticut area. It’s a beautiful area to live in and those as*holes who did that are actually part of my community and they are really the only ugly part of living here.

Responsibility for who we have become and preventing us from becoming worse is ours now. It is now a part of being a responsible and active citizen, now, now that the era of the final rise of intolerance and now fascism and plutocracies, as those proven dysfunctional behaviors make their final stand in our communities.

Hey what is a Lie Anyway?

I have hoped and wished for someone to use their media moments to speak up about our absence of an important - kind of childish, grammar lesson about using the word “lie.”  We abuse it to a degree that we have forgotten and in so doing have abused it’s best definition;  exploitatively.

From Dictionary.Com:

“A false statement made with deliberate intent to deceive; an intentional untruth; a falsehood.

Synonyms: prevarication, falsification.

Antonyms: truth.”

As a civil society practicing democracy, we’ve blown-it when we haphazardly throw accusations that have no evidence at our candidates seeking to represent us. At home and at work we treat each other this way and it is horrible communication and could be a causality of the destruction of a healthy democracy and its use as weapon of communication should be considered inappropriate in any discourse regarding anyone.

We don’t preposition its’ use with qualifying language that makes the accusation reasonable as an opinion. We toss it out like a true object of solid matter at those we have bias against. It is immature and defeating to all sides.

The accusation of a lie is largely an indignant and empty of substance, diminutive assault on anyone disliked by anyone.

Using it as an accusation is in the majority of cases an baseless abuse of its meaning. We need to cut-this-out. We need to make strong words like this important again and not 99% baseless assault.  

See that half way down this page [LINK], 4 out of the 5 examples taken from a search of the Daily Beast are headlines using the word lie as an accusation. You can bet; each accusation would be proven to be false, as empty of any evidence of intent to knowingly tell a distruth.

You Can’t Row the Boat if You Don’t Vote

I shot this 35mm tri x pan on a snowy day in 1978, when the tourists were nowhere to be seen on a memorable weekend in 1978. I was 18 and drank at the Raleigh Tavern that night and gorged on peanuts and song.

This republic was an idea long brewing. My aunt just engaged in a text conversation with me from behind a 4 brick thick 245  year old dungeon walls near the Capitol building. Inspiring.  The cemetery nearby holds the dead from several battles and the Civil War.

In remembering history and “why we fight,” our historians sometimes find the words of the soldiers, from some interview or if lucky the soldier could write his own journal. But I have never read any of those infrequently found words where a simple answer was requested of the simple question: Why are you fighting this war?

History is rife with those who see our causes for submitting ourselves to life and death risk for a governmental change - differently. Those differences may vary wildly. However, I am of the opinion that the most common of those, who were in the frontlines of battle by the masses, from all over the regions involved are those who answer history’s question the best.

Here is a speculative answer from a young man, whom I visualize and entertain was lured into the cause of separation from Britain and all that that separation may have meant to him:

“The bloody British are fu*ks. Rapists and pillagers. Bloody King George. Don’t provide us sh*t.  I can’t get enough work to have land of my own. They said we’d be paid 8 pence a day and the indians are a problem and the Reds don’t help enough.”

The young man was ignorant. He was illiterate like everyone else he knew. He and his peers could have been told almost anything to inspire them to arms, to bloodshed. But his statement becomes history’s true reason for war. Not necessarily what those in control of the media of the day managed to feed into the scantily literate public.

“It is written.”  Was a cliche statement that cemented truths into conversational statements of the news of the day. To many, it was as if an absolute. The colonists were not apart from this common understanding. Common was the person of the colonies. Not powdered. Not literate.

In my primary education in the 1960s I learned the beckoning call, that likely came from popularly read periodicals or a major newspaper:

“Taxation without representation!”

However, that was not common understanding. That was history’s writers getting the jump on the common person. It was partially true. But the King’s representation was slow in adapting and powered gentry of that government were too different from us. They were failing our fast developing and adapting peoples.

That young man’s sacrifice, whether he did it for the 8 pence or not, doesn’t have to happen again if we participate in what he was fighting for - really. The right to be represented by a trusted body that can protect you and provide for your common welfare when the individual is unable. Because together we fare best.

That young man was disenfranchised from the government of Britain. He felt very different from them in both culture and needs. Separation was inevitable as the feelings of persons like him became the call to war as they were communicated for him by the few literate in brick homes throughout the colonies.

Right now we face disenfranchisement of our feelings. The call is not to war but it appears to be a plea, as if a last chance, to vote us into change. That statement I created of that young man can have our modern words inserted. We use metaphors that transmit the times, in place of his diatribe, of rapists and pillagers, we include our most dramatic words about our now huge government.

Imagine this metaphor: If you don’t vote you are being the dirt the soldiers crossed to risk their lives and nothing of any more significance.  You are lending to our future the need to take up arms. Bloodshed for our failure to participate.

If you don’t get in that boat on election day, you can’t be substituted for; I can’t represent you when I go to the polls in November. I don’t know you. My culture may be very different from yours. Wildy different?
