"Stop making people wrong!" Mother Would Say

Me, making George W. Bush wrong in NYC, in 2003.

Me, making people wrong and loving it.
While rocking out in 1999.

"Stop making people wrong!" Mother would say. But I was born a critic and further forged as a skeptic as the primary school years progressed. Then the MAGA's came along in 16, and I couldn't help myself and I now had the internet. So they've not budged in 2.5-yrs at 39% approval.

In the long view of a time my mother was right; in time the target of your criticism and blame will refuse your corrections, your solutions, and advice, because the delivery was casting wrongfulness on them. They plant themselves in whatever behavior, of any activity and stay.

The rest of you can heed these words, I'll keep trash talking Trump and any asshole lacking in brains who assisted him in taking our highest office with lies and deception on an audience of people too busy to find the real information.

~~~~
By the way, the sad truth is that a vicious cycle is in place. It has causality in Trump's voters' inability to have found the facts and then reason them. A half irony is that is the very factor that allowed him to bamboozle them. And because we've allowed two information universes in our news media, they'll never find the truth. Further, because we make them wrong, with our memes, commentary and generally hateful theme that runs on for years (because Trump is Trump, he keeps going), we are stuck with Trumpian reasoning (the void of) for at least two generations, and that’s about 90-yrs.
In the late of the 2016 election, Bernie Sander's fans were firmly behind “free college for all.” And had that same call for that ethos been listened to in the 1960s and 1970s the MAGAs would not have been fooled by a lying Carnival Barker. A clown.
American idiots: the Electoral College is made of Humans to make Moral Decisions
American idiots:
They (the electoral college) are not mere numbers, and they well could be just that, but humans to make moral decisions when veritable mobs of misinformed and mislead people elect completely unqualified demagogues to our powerful leadership! Humans not numbers, get it?
Anyone else (besides Donald J. Trump) at a time like right-now  would be thoroughly investigated to rule-out whether or not he were an actual Russian agent. But no. Here we go. We know very little about him. He may have met with an agent of Vladimir Putin, or with the Russian president himself in the many months to recent years prior to choosing to announce his run.
That would be consistent with all that we know and have seen so far and those are the exact kinds of circumstances that the FBI would pursue an investigation against anyone of us - with less extenuating circumstance.
 The circumstantial, when based on multiple in context visible relationships is the evidence we use to send thousands of people to prison with every year. Many are convicted only on the circumstantial. I would wager that there exists a physical trail within the documented life of Donald J. Trump of collusion with the Russian government, and possible direct affirmation that they would be helping him to win.
The people he’s near recently are Russian connected and this fact remains to fuel the suspicion that he should be a suspect. He needs a Moscow Hotel; his Secretary of State’s company (Exxon) could gain half a trillion dollars in business of arctic oil drilling if the US lifts economic sanctions against Russia.
His tax returns may indicate a direct payoff (for consultation) with/from the Russian government. We may never know.
Thanks allot Americans. You’re idiots.
Congratulations to mom and many other local activists. Many who have become energized to fight and stand up and stand out against intolerance. This sign was repainted after being vandalized by local "Tumpians," in the East Haddam, Connecticut area. It’s a beautiful area to live in and those as*holes who did that are actually part of my community and they are really the only ugly part of living here.
Responsibility for who we have become and preventing us from becoming worse is ours now. It is now a part of being a responsible and active citizen, now, now that the era of the final rise of intolerance and now fascism and plutocracies, as those proven dysfunctional behaviors make their final stand in our communities.
Thanks, mom. We’ll march again, in the freezing cold together in January.
The Psychology of the Communication of Political Projection and Donald J Trump
Before much psycho-babble:  a statement about what democracy is supposed to look like. I don’t expect that ours is in trouble at this time, but we must keep in mind what we all need and want it to remain. Here is my off the cuff interpretation:
*This best-known manner of practicing the old meaning of democracy, as the Greeks established: a method of discourse between those with difference in order to sustain a peaceful society, is now changed thanks to the predictable rise of megalomaniac Donald J. Trump, who with the psychosis of . . .*
~~~~~

*You must now read this* (below) and please be biased toward the so-called billionaire, who has exhibited ALL OF THE BELOW indicators of a worrisome, often delusional psychotic state of behavior and so his being.

Best modern example of The Donalds’ psychological projection behavior may be a statement from the Donalds’ subconscious, such as: *”I have a fear they’ll realize that what they want is what my opposition has been wanting for decades and so I’ll tell these people (recipients of my projection (of that fear)) that that behavior my opposition has wanted (that they are largely unaware of) is what I want and what my party wants for them. Yes; I’ll use them to hear my defense of my fear by saying they don’t do that and I and my party will!"*

It is a counter-projection counter communication. An old political tool used by those with a subconscious fear that they may be on the wrong side of issues. It’s used frequently when polling reveals a desire in the constituency that that candidate may want a few points from in the coming election. That desire is often counter what their public communications have indicated for a long time.  Knowledge of the candidates' that his or her public, at large do not know  the reasoning behind his fears.  That is key to who and when and how that countering is performed.

Some definitions to know when listening and watching and listening to Donald J. Trump and many conservative politicians and some liberal ones too!:

“Four dimensions of narcissism as a personality variable have been delineated: leadership/authority, superiority/arrogance, self-absorption/self-admiration, and exploitativeness/entitlement.[6]

A 2012 book on power-hungry narcissists suggests that narcissists typically display most, and sometimes all, of the following traits:[7]

Psychologic Defense Mechanism

Para:
“A defence mechanism is an unconscious psychological mechanism that reduces anxiety arising from unacceptable or potentially harmful stimuli.[1] Sigmund Freudwas one of the first proponents of this construct.[2]

Defence mechanisms may result in healthy or unhealthy consequences depending on the circumstances and frequency with which the mechanism is used.[3] Inpsychoanalytic theory, defence mechanisms (German: Abwehrmechanismen) are psychological strategies brought into play by the unconscious mind[4] tomanipulate, deny, or distort reality in order to defend against feelings of anxiety and unacceptable impulses and to maintain one's self-schema.[5] These processes that manipulate, deny, or distort reality may include the following: repression, or the burying of a painful feeling or thought from one's awareness even though it may resurface in a symbolic form;[3] identification, incorporating an object or thought into oneself;[6] and rationalization, the justification of one's behaviour and motivations by substituting "good" acceptable reasons for the actual motivations.[3][7] In psychoanalytic theory, repression is considered as the basis for other defence mechanisms.[3]” The later is very important in understanding Trump’s behavioral issues.

Ego Mania (in the Donald):
Wicki lift; para:
Egomania

“Egomania is also known as an obsessive preoccupation with one's self[1] and applies to someone who follows their own ungoverned impulses and is possessed by delusions of personal greatness and feels a lack of appreciation.[2] Someone suffering from this extreme egocentric focus is an egomaniac. *The condition is psychologically abnormal.*[1]

The term egomania is often used by laypersons in a pejorative fashion to describe an individual who is intolerably self-centred. The clinical condition that most resembles the popular conception of egomania isnarcissistic personality disorder.[3]”

Psychological projection

 is a theory in psychology in which humans defend themselves against their own unconscious impulses or qualities (both positive and negative) by denying their existence in themselves while attributing them to others.[1] For example, a person who is habitually rude may constantly accuse other people of being rude. It incorporates blame shifting.

According to some research, the projection of one's unconscious qualities onto others is a common process in everyday life.”

“Projection (German: Projektion) was conceptualised by Freud in his letters to Wilhelm Fliess,[9] and further refined by Karl Abraham and Anna Freud. Freud considered that in projection thoughts, motivations, desires, and feelings that cannot be accepted as one's own are dealt with by being placed in the outside world and attributed to someone else.[10] What the ego repudiates is split off and placed in another.[11]

Freud would later come to believe that projection did not take place arbitrarily, but rather seized on and exaggerated an element that already existed on a small scale in the other person.[12] (The related defence of projective identification differs from projection in that there the other person is expected to become identified with the impulse or desire projected outside,[13] so that the self maintains a connection with what is projected, in contrast to the total repudiation of projection proper.)[14]

Melanie Klein saw the projection of good parts of the self as leading potentially to over-idealisation of the object.[15] Equally, it may be one's conscience that is projected, in an attempt to escape its control: a more benign version of this allows one to come to terms with outside authority.[16]
Theoretical examples:

Projection tends to come to the fore in normal people at times of crisis, personal or political[17] but is more commonly found in the neurotic or psychotic *in personalities functioning at a primitive level as innarcissistic personality disorder or borderline personality disorder.*

Carl Jung considered that the unacceptable parts of the personality represented by the Shadow archetype were particularly likely to give rise to projection, both small-scale and on a national/international basis.[20] Marie-Louise Von Franz extended her view of projection, stating that "wherever known reality stops, where we touch the unknown, there we project an archetypal image".[21]

Psychological projection is one of the medical explanations of bewitchment used to explain the behavior of the afflicted children at Salem in 1692. The historian John Demos asserts that the symptoms of bewitchment experienced by the afflicted girls were due to the girls undergoing psychological projection of repressed aggression.[22]
Practical examples (of donald’s behavior):

Victim blaming: The victim of someone else's accident or bad luck may be offered criticism, the theory being that the victim may be at fault for having attracted the other person's hostility.[23]

Projection of marital guilt: Thoughts of infidelity to a partner may be unconsciously projected in self-defence on to the partner in question, so that the guilt attached to the thoughts can be repudiated or turned to blame instead, in a process linked to denial.[24]

Bullying: A bully may project his/her own feelings of vulnerability onto the target(s) of the bullying activity. Despite the fact that a bully's typically denigrating activities are aimed at the bully's targets, the true source of such negativity is ultimately almost always found in the bully's own sense of personal insecurity and/or vulnerability.[25] Such aggressive projections of displaced negative emotions can occur anywhere from the micro-level of interpersonal relationships, all the way up through to the macro-level of international politics, or even international armed conflict.[20]

Projection of general guilt: Projection of a severe conscience[26] is another form of defense, one which may be linked to the making of false accusations, personal or political.[20]

Projection of hope: Also, in a more positive light, a patient may sometimes project his or her feelings of hope onto the therapist.[27]

Counter-projection: is something as an effect of projection that Carl Jung was brilliant enough to deduce:

Jung wrote, "All projections provoke counter-projection when the object is unconscious of the quality projected upon it by the subject.  Thus, what is unconscious in the recipient will be projected back onto the projector, precipitating a form of mutual acting out.

In a rather different usage, Harry Stack Sullivan saw counter-projection in the therapeutic context as a way of warding off the compulsive re-enactment of a psychological trauma, by emphasising the difference between the current situation and the projected obsession with the perceived perpetrator of the original trauma.

Clinical approaches:

Drawing on Gordon Allport's idea of the expression of self onto activities and objects, projective techniques have been devised to aid personality assessment, including the Rorschach ink-blots and the Thematic Apperception Test (TAT).

Projection may help a fragile ego reduce anxiety, but at the cost of a certain dissociation, as in dissociative identity disorder.[32] In extreme cases, an individual's personality may end up becoming critically depleted.[33] In such cases, therapy may be required which would include the slow rebuilding of the personality through the "taking back" of such projections.

Criticism (that he just hates and cannot help but to react to - he cannot ignore it):

Some studies were critical of Freud's theory. Research supports the existence of a false-consensus effect whereby humans have a broad tendency to believe that others are similar to themselves, and thus "project" their personal traits onto others. This applies to good traits as well as bad traits and is not a defense mechanism for denying the existence of the trait within the self.[

Instead, Newman, Duff, and Baumeister (1997) proposed a new model of defensive projection. In this view, people try to suppress thoughts of their undesirable traits, and these efforts make those trait categories highly accessible—so that they are then used all the more often when forming impressions of others. The projection is then only a by-product of the real defensive mechanism.

The Whirlpool of Socio Economic Despair and the Average Donald Trump Supporter

12647283_10206583174710940_4739533197414121724_n.jpg

This image portrays a well documented social concept in metaphor, as a constantly churning cycle that feeds a liquid spiral of our population down into a dark pit at the bottom of an unstoppable whirlpool of socio-economic despair that continues as if a function of nature. I made this image more than 15 years ago and this cycle remains today and it must be broken. But few in our busy society have taken the time to understand it is representing a causality in reason that can be addressed.

The graphic metaphor in summary: In a wealthy society that has resources enough but does not recognize the best use of those resources, if large numbers of children receive a poor education they will very likely live a life of poverty and be unable to earn enough in any given year to escape the many facets of life that lead to a feeling of desperation as the ever constant emotion of despair. In their despair, many will turn to dishonesty as crime to cheat the life they are disgusted with living and cannot see a reasonable and viable methodology of escaping.  Impulsively, society will then spend a great deal of money locking them up. That spending becomes the liquid that pulls by gravity with equal force as the momentum of crime behind it pushes it along. That money is lost and can not be used to address the causality of that crime that is the inevitable result of poor education. Poor education continues. They spiral persists. Poverty follows.

It was a lack of formal and public education that in 1787 was not seen by our supposedly brilliant “founders,” as being necessary for the security of a free state of free people. It was decades before the first cities in the new United States chose to publicly fund a school system. It was longer than a century before we recognized that African Americans must have a legally enforced right to that education as well. We still suffer because of this lack of foresight by privileged landowners, and slave owners who had very economic reasons for wanting us to be free.

In this graphic there are two metaphors of two entwined concepts: it is only our perspective from a distance (a stand-off position) that causes the center of the spiral to appear to be smaller. That small size is the size of the issue to the general population. That small size is also a cause of our segregation of those caught in the spiral away from our better functioning members of society. If a society were a person it might say:

“If it appears small we won’t have to face it. We won’t feel constantly guilty for our inability to share the opportunity of education with all as equals.”

A liberal in the United States of America knows of this whirlpool. A liberal knows that it begins with a poor educational system that does not favor equality of opportunity for every single citizen child in our country. Too many of the wealthy deny it exists.

If we want to see a good example of the demographic of who those people are, then we not look any further than at the audience of angry people who feel they should support the empty rhetorical campaign for president of the United States of America of billionaire real estate mogul Donald J. Trump.

There are millions of Donald Trump supporters who, if locked inside of a room with a well informed  liberal activist and so forced to listen to the explanations of this metaphor  would eventually understand this well-documented concept. They won’t like that they are listening to bleeding heart liberal but they would eventually agree that this spiral begins with education.

Donald J. Trump got a great education even though for most of the years of his primary education he treated those years as if that education could be forsaken as if it were a natural part of life.

But it was a natural part of life for the spoiled brats of the greedy land owners and landlords living in white male metropolis privilege clicks, as was the environment that Donald Trump’s father was living in while he became a millionaire in the 1950’s.

In this context, it is no coincidence that the majority of Trump supporters do not have higher education. It fits the pattern of this metaphor and it fits that Donald Trump would deny this causality as one of the privileged participants of a forsaken as an expectation of life,  higher educational system.

What is Donald Trump’s answer to stopping this whirlpool? It does not exist. He would deny that this very liberal metaphor is a causality of the very anger that the minions who are enthused by his reasonless campaign for president of the United States express with shouts and yelling of vitriol at the many public campaign events he has held.

Readers: If you know a Trump supporter try to get them into that room and lock the door behind you. Appeal to their anger. Let them know you understand how they feel before explaining your opinion of why they feel the way they do. They are hard working people. They each know someone who is either vastly underemployed or still unemployed from the near depression we suffered beginning in the Bush year of 2007. Empathize with them first. Maintain that empathy during the expression of your opinion as to why they have that anger. Let them know some facts like the fact that immigration into the United States has turned around. That the rich have been getting richer for decades while people like they are have continued to grow poorer. If you have read this far into this essay, you know what to say because you were already an informed liberal with empathy and understanding of causality of our whirlpool of despair.
